Christmas Party 2022 For more details and pictures, see "Club News" |
Our 2022 Triples the Bay Carnival was a great success with 26 teams filling the 2 available greens playing 3 games of 2 bowl triples.
Players from Breakers Wamberal, Canton Beach, Ettalong, Everglades, Gosford City, Hali, Munmorah, Ourimbah, The Entrance, Wyong and Bateau enjoyed a day of bowls under grey skies that threatened rain but thankfully did not deliver.
Following the first two games, lunch was enjoyed in the Main Lounge followed by delicious homemade slices prepared by members of our Social team plus other clever bakers within our Club.
Many thanks to Creighton's for their continued sponsorship of this event and a huge thank you to Dean Wilson for his work on the computer and doubling up as Umpire for the day - we have never seen an Umpire work harder (and no, they weren't all jack measures 😊!!)
Congratulations to our Div 3 Red Pennant side, who today defeated Edgeworth in the Regional Pennant playoffs and now proceed to the State Playoffs in Bomaderry from November 18.
The final Pennant results have now been decided with washed out and incomplete games now played.
Click here to access final Pennant results.
We now focus on the Post-Sectional Pennant playoffs, which we are hosting next week from Sep 5 - 7.
Division 3 play the first two days of their round robin competition on Monday and Tuesday, with all grades then competing on the Wednesday.
Click here to access the post sectional draw for all Divisions.
Our Division 3 Red side will be competing all day Monday, in the morning Tuesday and again in the morning on Wednesday and all Stingray supporters are invited to come to the Club and cheer the girls on.
We will also have the pop-up "Stingray Cafe" operating in the BBQ area offering bacon and egg rolls, sausage sizzle and a selection of cakes with tea and coffee to keep your energy levels high !!!
PS: The use of the Dome for this event will impact availability for roll ups during this event.
This week we had the pleasure of presenting Barb Galvin from "The Shirley Shuttle" with a cheque for $2,000 to assist them with the wonderful work they do.
Barb is the founder of The Shirley Shuttle, an idea born from Barb's experience in caring for her mother Shirley during her battle with cancer and witnessing the transport difficulties other patients had in attending life-saving treatment.
A few month's after Shirley's passing, Barb read an article in the local newspaper indicating a lack of local public oncology treatment centres and a lack of transport to oncology treatment for transport-challenged outpatients.
So Barb donated $50,000 to the Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) for the purchase of a mini-bus to take Gosford patients to local oncology appointments.
On March 4 2008 "The Shirley Shuttle" was launched with the service soon extended to include Wyong residents and continues to operate 5 days a week with 4 sedans on the road and is dedicated to "transport-challenged" clients who have no access to transport for their oncology related appointments.
Each vehicle is driven by a volunteer who either have a direct connection to cancer or via family and friends and they are always on the lookout for new drivers. Since 2019 all Shirley Shuttle volunteer drivers have been issued with a SS uniform.
In 2018 Community Transport Central Coast took ownership of "The Shirley Shuttle" from CCNSW and continue to administer the fleet at no cost. Donations such as ours go towards the cost of replacing the vehicles that do so many km's around the coast.
So thank you to all our avid readers and those that love Anne's jars of pickles - your purchases from our trading trolley have been put to good use, and next time you do a wrong bias, don't cringe and think "walk of shame" to the money tin - think what a great thing you did in helping a wonderful local charity.

At the BBWBC AGM held on Thursday 4th November, 2021, members agreed in principle to the formation of a Unification Working Group (UWG) to investigate the possibility of the unification of BBWBC and Bateau Bay Bowls (formerly Bateau Bay Men’s Bowling Club).
This Group has now been formed and comprises three members of BBWBC, Lisa Caswell, Lynn Farah, Marion Lindsay and three members of BBB, Les Mackie, Andrew Hemming and Michael Peck.
The Group met informally on Thursday 13th January and the members agreed that Lisa Caswell would be Chair of the Group and Les Mackie would be Secretary. The Group will meet with, or will be given guidance from Bowls NSW as soon as practical.
The possible unification of our two clubs is an important topic and one that will not be resolved quickly, and we are happy to allow the UWG to take as much time as it needs to present our members with their findings. When this occurs you, our members, will be asked to vote on whether to proceed with unification. If the majority of members from both clubs agree, then we will proceed down that path, however, if the majority of members feel that the time is not quite right for unification, at least the groundwork is done and ready for when our members do think the time is right.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Group or the feasibility of unification, you should direct your questions to either the Ladies or Men’s Committees.
Finally, we would like to thank all members of the UWG for taking on this very important role.
